Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong highly praised Beijing's preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing Wednesday.

After visits to the Beijing Planning exhibition Hall and the construction site of the National Theatre, Lee said, "Beijing has done a lot for the 2008 Olympic Games. I believe all these endeavors will achieve success."

Lee showed great interests in projects of Olympic Games. When visiting the models of the "Bird's nest" gymnasium and the swimming pool, named "Cubic water", Lee asked many questions such as their functions and the time of completion for the two projects.

Lee also saw a 10-minute film about the 850-year history of Beijing as a capital and a 3-D film featuring current achievements in the development of Beijing and the progress towards 2008.

After seeing the model of Beijing's master plan and the future houses designed by the British architect Zaha Hadid, Lee wrote down his best wishes for Beijing in 2008 and beyond.

While visiting the National Theatre, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2005, Lee said the building is "magnificent and fantastic".

Lee is on his first official visit to China in the capacity of prime minister at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao. He will visit some other Chinese northern cities like Tianjin, Shenyang and Dalian.
