US treasury under-secretary visits Macao
font size

Stuart Levey, US treasury under-secretary for terrorism and financial crimes, Thursday started his visit in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR).

A statement issued by Macao's Information Bureau said the US official during his one-day stay met with Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the MSAR, and a number of other Macao officials.

Levey was briefed on the latest developments of the MSAR in the progress of anti-terrorism and anti-money laundering, said the statement.

The US official in September openly slammed a Macao-based bank for its alleged involvement in a series of money-laundering cases.

The MSAR government will maintain close contact with the US government concerning the issue of Banco Delta Asia, the accused bank, said the official statement.
