Shao Qiwei, chairman of the China Tourism Association, will lead a delegation to Taiwan for a non-government, business trip at the invitation of the Taiwan Visitors Association.
This was announced by Zhang Jianzhong, spokesman with State Administration of Tourism, at a news conference in Beijing on Oct. 27.
According to Zhang, the delegation will set off on Oct. 28 and return from Taiwan on Nov. 6.
The visit aims to implement the relevant consensus reached at the talks between Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the CPC (Communist Party of China) Central Committee, and Lien Chan, then Chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) and James Soong, Chairman of the People First Party (PFP) in April and May respectively and make preparations for mainland tourists travels to Taiwan.
The delegation will review tourist routes and tourism facilities in Taiwan. Members will conduct inspection in Taiwan's scenic spots, tourism and accommodation facilities, transportation, shopping and recreation places.
They will also review Taiwan's tourism products, services and security specially from the perspective of mainland tourists.
Exchanges will be held between the delegation and tourism circles in Taiwan for visits of mainland residents to Taiwan to be realized at an early date.
