Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met Friday with Dhanin Chearavanont, Chairman of the Chia Tai Group in Thailand.

Hui expressed thanks and appreciation to Chia Tai Group for its active support to China's economic development, saying the vast number of overseas Chinese have played irreplaceable roles in promoting exchanges, friendship and cooperation between China and other countries and helped boost China's reform and opening-up drive.

Talking about the birde flu prevention and control, Hui said that Chinese government has paid much attention to the prevention and control of the bird flu epidemic, and is dealing with the work in an orderly, vigorous and effective way.

The vice premier said that China had set up national emergency responding and monitoring network to combat bird flu epidemic.

China has organized large-scale slaughtering of the poultry in the epidemic-afflicted areas, he said, adding that vaccination on poultry is being conducted extensively in the affected areas.

Hui expressed the hope that China would join hands with the international community to enhance technological exchanges and cooperation in this respect and step up efforts to prevent human infection of bird flu.
