Chinese vice premier meets Cuban special envoyChinese Vice Premier Wu Yi met with Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a special envoy for Cuban leader Fidel Castro in Beijing Thursday, pledging that China will continue to promote Sino-Cuban ties. This year is the 45th forging anniversary of Sino-Cuban diplomatic ties, and the 45-year history is evident for the solid foundation and bright future of the long-term, bilateral and friendly relations, Wu said, noting that China will make joint efforts with the Cuban side to continuously push forward the ties. She also asked Cabrisas to convey greetings and good wishes from Chinese president Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao to Castro. Cabrisas, who is also the Cuban minister of government, expressed Cuba's appreciation for the efforts and remarkable achievements that the Chinese government has made, in a spirit of "putting people first", to improve the living standards of the Chinese people.
