Wu Yi arrives in Macao to open East Asian Games

Chinese Vice-premier Wu Yi arrived in Macao Saturday afternoon to open the 4th East Asian Games scheduled from Oct. 29 to Nov. 6.

Upon her arrival, Wu was greeted at the Macao International Airport by Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR), Susana Chou, President of the Legislative Assembly, Folrinda Chan, Secretary for Administration and Justice, Tam Pak Yuen, Secretary for Economy and Finance, and Chui Sai On, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture.

The vice-premier was presented with bouquets of flowers. She shook hands with Macao officials present.

During her one-day stay in Macao, Wu is to meet with heads of all nine delegations competing in the Games, Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah, and officials of Macao-based offices of mainland governmental agencies and companies.

Officials accompanying Wu on the tour include Chen Zuo'er, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.

Among those who greeted the vice-premier at the airport are Bai Zhijian, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the MSAR, Wan Yongxiang, Commissioner of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in the MSAR, and Liu Peng, Director of the State Sport Administration.
