Indonesian schoolgirls beheaded, president orders stern actions

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono Saturday condemned and ordered a quick investigation into the killings of three Indonesian schoolgirls who were found dead headless.

"I strongly condemn the inhuman killings, whoever the perpetrators and whatever their motives," President Yudhoyono told a press conference after leading an emergency meeting at the Air Force base in East Jakarta.

The local Antara News Agency earlier reported that the three students of a Christian high school in the restive Central Sulawesi town of Poso were abducted and beheaded on their way to school. Their heads were found at separate locations.

Susilo said that he has instructed the military chief and the national police chief to lead the investigation at the scene and adopt the stern measures against the perpetrators.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the killing.
