The nine-day 4th East Asian Games was inaugurated on Oct. 29. Some 2,000 athletes from China, South Korea, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Hong Kong of China, Macao of China, Chinese Taipei and Guam will contest for 234 gold medals in all 17 sports in the event.

    China's relief aid to quake-hit Pakistan exceeds 20 mln USD

    Chinese Ambassador Zhang Chunxiang hands over a new batch of 150,000 blankets and 3,380 tents worth 50 million yuan to Ejaz Rahim, Pakistan's cabinet secretary. China's relief aid to Pakistan has amounted to 20.5 million US dollars since the Oct. 8 earthquake struck the south Asian country.(sina/CRI)

    3 New Delhi Explosions Kill at Least 58

    People stand around the site of an explosion in New Delhi, India. Near-simultaneous explosions rocked the Indian capital Saturday evening, tearing through a bus and two markets crowded with people shopping for gifts for a Hindu festival. At least 58 people were killed and dozens wounded in the blasts, which the government blamed on terrorists. (AP/CRI photo)
