Two Palestinian militants were shot dead Sunday night in clashes with Israeli troops in the village of Qabatia near the northern West Bank city of Jenin, Palestinian security sources and witnesses said.
An Israeli army force, backed by several armored vehicles and jeeps, stormed the village and besieged a house, where two militants were hiding.
Qabatia is near Jenin, home to Hassan Abu Zeid, an Islamic Jihad (Holy War) suicide bomber who blew himself up in the Israeli city of Hadera on Wednesday.
The raid on Qabatia came hours after the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and Palestinian militant groups agreed to stop launching homemade rockets at Israel in exchange for an end to Israeli operations in the Palestinian territories.
Last week, Israel assassinated two Islamic Jihad militants in Tulkarm, while the group carried out a suicide bombing attack in Hadera.
