Japanese Prime Minister and Liberal Democratic Party President Junichiro Koizumi reshuffled his party's leadership on Monday, remaining two of the three senior officials unchanged.

Tsutomu Takebe, 64, retained as the LDP's secretary general, so did Fumio Kyuma, 64, as General Council chairman.

Hidenao Nakagawa, 61, who was in charge of the party's affairs with the parliament and the former chief cabinet secretary, was granted the post as LDP Policy Research Council chairman.

Hiroyuki Hosoda, 61, has been transferred from the post of chief cabinet secretary to resume Nakagawa's role.

Koizumi will reshuffle the cabinet later in the day.

The LDP's Acting Secretary General Shinzo Abe has already been decided as the new chief cabinet secretary, the NHK TV station reported.
