458 pieces of cultural relics from Forbidden City to debut in London

A batch of precious cultural relics from China's imperial palace, 458 pieces in number, will make their spectacular debut in the Royal College of Art, London, on November 12. The exhibition, titled "China: The Three Emperors 1662-1795", is the grandest show held abroad on cultural relics from the Forbidden City since the founding of new China in 1949.

As early as in 1935, historical documents showed, the College successfully held an international exhibition of Chinese art, at which 420,000 visitors set eyes on 735 pieces of treasures from the Forbidden City.

For the exhibition 70 years later, precious artistic works during the reigns of Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong emperors, the most prosperous period of Qing dynasty, were selected out, including painting and calligraphy, jade ware, bronze ware, porcelain, lacquerware, embroidery, furniture and western instruments. Many of them are first-class works displayed abroad for the first time.

The exhibition will last until next April.
