The China-Thailand relationship can be seen as a model of peaceful coexistence and reciprocal cooperation, Chinese top lawmaker Wu Bangguo said in Beijing Wednesday.
When meeting with Thai Senate Speaker Suchon Chaleekure, Wu said China and Thailand enjoyed deep traditional friendship and their 30-year-long relations were time tested.
"In recent years, the two countries are devoted to developing a strategic cooperative partnership," said Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), adding that bilateral cooperation in politics, economy, security, education and science as well international and regional issues kept expanding.
"China is ready to join hands with Thailand to further promote the strategic cooperation," he said.
Wu also hailed the parliamentary exchanges between the two countries, saying that he hoped the two parliaments would continue their friendly exchanges in legislation and supervision and enhance cooperation in international and regional parliamentary organizations to further boost China-Thailand ties.
Suchon said Thailand and China are close neighbors and their cooperation in various fields has produced fruitful results.
He said the Thai royal family, government and parliament attach great importance to the relationship with China. "Thailand firmly adheres the one-China policy."
Suchon said the Thai Senate wants to enhance cooperation with the NPC to make further contribution to the development of Thailand-China strategic cooperative partnership.
