font size

Chinese Commerce Minister Bo Xilai said that China takes a positive stance on the new round of talks of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and hopes its Sixth Ministerial Meeting, the organization's highest decision- making body, to be held in Hong Kong in December will make headway.

While meeting with WTO Director General Pascal Lamy late Tuesday night, Bo said it is necessary to address the concerns of the developing members about special and differential treatment, and that the issue of new members' status should also be solved effectively, according to sources reached Wednesday.

Lamy expressed understanding of China's concerns, saying that he hopes China will continue to play an active role in the new round of talks.

Bo was here attending the 17th Ministerial Meeting of Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation, which concluded Wednesday.
