    Boeing launches 747-8 to compete with Airbus A380

    The photo shows an effect picture of the new Boeing 747-8 passenger airplane. The Boeing Company officially launched the new Boeing 747-8 program aimed to compete with Airbus A380 on Nov 14, 2005. The 747-8 Intercontinental passenger airplane will be stretched 3.6 m compared to the 747-400 to accommodate 34 additional seats in a typical three-class configuration. The only jetliner in the 400- to 500-seat category, it will have a range of 14,815 km.

    A model presents a creation at the 9th China International Fashion Week, which opened in Beijing on Nov 16. Activities such as fashion show, design contest, forum etc will give people a better understanding of fashions in China.

    Miao's New Year celebrated in Guizhou

    A girl of Miao nationality dressed in traditional Miao costumes celebrates Miao's New Year on Nov 15 in Leishan County of Guizhou Province. The Leishan Miao Culture Week opened that day. During the Culture Week Miao songs contest, traditional costumes exhibition and bullfight will be held. Miao's New Year is one of the most important festivals of Miao people in Leishan County.

    The 2nd Beijing Forum opens

    Former US president George HW Bush addresses the opening ceremony of the 2nd Beijing Forum. The 2nd Beijing Forum with the theme "harmony of civilization and prosperity for all" opened in Beijing on Nov 16, 2005. More than 500 scholars from 46 countries and regions will discuss subjects in international relations, public health, philosophy, economy, history and culture.

    Shandong trials mobile phone TV service

    A mobile phone is playing TV program in a mobile phone shop in Jinan, capital city of east China's Shandong Province on Nov 16. The province began to trial the mobile phone TV service as from Nov 14. Six live TV channels, three live radio channels and a couple of VOD services are offered.

    Three miners rescued from coalmine floods in Yunnan

    Rescuers carried the body of a miner out of the shaft at the Hutou Coal Mine of Yibin, Yunnan Province on Nov 16, 2005. Four miners were trapped by a coalmine flooding that took place at 5:30 a.m. Nov 13. Three of them have been rescued and the other one is dead.

    China confirms three human cases of bird flu

    Photo taken on Nov. 15, 2005 shows the outside scene of the clinic for respiratory fever at the People's Hospital in Tongling, a city of east China's Anhui Province.
