The United States said on Thursday that an informal meeting will be held in London on Friday to discuss Iran's nuclear program.
Nicholas Burns, US undersecretary of state for political affairs, has left for London to meet with officials from Britain, France, Germany, Russia and others to discuss Iran's nuclear issue, said State Department deputy spokesman Adam Ereli at a briefing.
Burns will hear views from these countries and discuss the next steps "to accomplish our common goal," Ereli said.
Ereli also said that the United States is concerned about Iran's resumption of uranium conversion and called for the international community to "speak with one voice" on the thorny issue.
Citing US and European officials, the Washington Post said in a report on Thursday that Iran began converting a new batch of uranium at a key nuclear facility on Wednesday as it rejected international pleas to suspend such work and dismissed a new offer sponsored by Russia to ease tensions over the country's nuclear ambitions.
