    China's third riot police squad to Haiti in training

    Members of China's third riot police squad to Haiti under the United Nations peace-keeping mission take part in training in Langfang City, north China's Hebei Province Nov. 15, 2005. The squad will be soon sent to Haiti this December on an eight-month UN peacekeeping mission after all the members have passed the training assessment on 20 subjects including language ability, hostage rescuing, VIP escorting, etc. Their tasks in Haiti will include assisting local law enforcement, handling public security affairs, guarding large public events and training local riot police.

    Bird flu prevention in China

    China commemorates late CPC senior leader Hu Yaobang

    A symposium is held in Beijing Nov. 18, 2005, to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of the late senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Hu Yaobang. The official commemoration, organized by the CPC Central Committee, was attended by Premier Wen Jiabao, Vice President Zeng Qinghong and Secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection Wu Guanzheng.

    Cambodia destroys 36 C-125M missiles

    Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) displays a C-125M (SA-3) surface-to-air missile, in Kompong Speu province, 70 kilometers west of Phnom Penh, capital of Combodia, Nov. 18, 2005. Cambodia destroyed two C-125M (SA-3) surface-to-air missiles on Friday to prevent them from falling into the hands of terrorists. The 36 surface-to-air missiles were discovered recently at a military base. The Defense Ministry started destroying them at the RCAF Armor Center in Kompong Speu province on Oct. 25, and all have been destroyed by Friday.

    China starts 22nd scientific expedition toward Antarctic

    The polar expedition ship Xuelong carrying members of the Chinese Antarctica Research Team leaves Shanghai in east China Nov. 18, 2005. It was the 22th time for the Chinese Antarctica Research Team to launch the expedition trip. The team are expected to return to Shanghai by the end of March in 2006.

    Fans and anchorperson together host the premiere ceremony of the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in Xingmei International Cineplex in Beijing, capital of China, Nov. 17, 2005. Some 200 fans of the Harry Potter movies attended the ceremony, and the full length movie will be appreciated by Chinese audience on Friday night.
