China exports bird flu vaccine to Indonesia
font size

Three million doses of China-made bird flu vaccine left Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province for Indonesia Monday.

This is the first time that China exports bird flu vaccines to Indonesia.

The vaccines will be flown to the island country from the Beijing Capital International Airport on Tuesday.

The vaccine is produced by the Zhengzhou Pharmaceutical Plant under the Beijing-based Qian Yuan Hao Biological Co., LTD, a designated bird flu vaccine producer by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Tests showed that the vaccine quality has met the buyer's standard, said Zhao Baocai, an official with the Henan Provincial Administration for Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine.

The Indonesian government has begun to source bird flu vaccines around the world since 2003 due to an inefficient domestic production capacity.

The Zhengzhou Pharmaceutical Plant's products were allowed to enter the Indonesian market after passing the examinations of the agricultural authorities in Indonesia early this year, according to the vaccine producer.

More vaccines produced by the plant are expected to export to Indonesia as a new purchasing contract is under negotiation, according to the sources with the plant.

China also exported 43 tons of bird flu vaccine to Vietnam on Nov. 14 to help the country combat the epidemic.
