Qian Qichen, former Chinese vice premier, was conferred a medal of honor by visiting Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar in Beijing on Monday.

Enkhbayar awarded Qian the medal "North Star", the highest honor of its kind in Mongolia, for what he had done to promoting China-Mongolia relations.

At their meeting, Qian and Enkhbayar believed that bilateral friendly cooperation could come up with more fruitful outcomes in the future.

Enkhbayar arrived here Sunday afternoon, starting a seven-day visit to China, his first state visit since taking presidency in June.
