China hopes to make concerted efforts with Croatia to achieve a multi-dimensional development of military ties between the two countries, said Liang Guanglie, chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).
Liang expressed such a hope in Beijing Monday during the talks with his Croatian counterpart Josip Lucic.
Liang, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said
bilateral exchanges and cooperation have progressed smoothly since China and Croatia established diplomatic relations more than a decade ago.
It is in the fundamental interest of the two nations to consolidate and deepen the China-Croatia relationship, Liang said, adding that the Chinese army has always placed great emphasis on developing bilateral military ties.
Besides, Liang briefed the guest on China's national defence policy and its military reform.
Lucic expressed Croatia's eagerness to strengthen bilateral relations and friendly cooperation with China in wider domains.
Croatia and China should cooperate with each other to safeguard world peace, he said.
Lucic kicked off his 6-day China tour on Nov. 27 at the invitation of Liang.
