Chinese and Mongolian presidents held talks in Beijing Monday, agreeing to enhance bilateral ties in the following four respects:

-- Strengthening high-level dialogues and exchanges between the two parliaments, governments and parties;

-- Focusing on resources exploration and infrastructure construction. The two sides should carry out the cooperative projects and make full use of the advantage of each other to promote cooperation on energy resources, telecommunication and on other areas. China will support its enterprises to cooperate with Mongolian counterparts;

-- Expanding cooperation on culture and education to enrich Sino-Mongolian good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust;

-- Maintaining consultation in international and regional affairs to promote peace and development in the region. China supports Mongolia to play an active role in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as an observer and also supports its participation in the Asian and northeast Asian cooperation.

During the talks with Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar, Chinese President Hu Jintao said Sino-Mongolian relations have entered a new stage, and the political trust has increased and economic and trade cooperation has developed.

Hu expressed gratitude for Mongolia on its adherence to the one-China policy and on its support for China's reunification cause.

He said China respects Mongolia's independence, sovereign and territorial integrity, as well as the Mongolian people's choice for a development road.

"It is our guideline to further a good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust with Mongolia based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence," Hu said.

Enkhbayar said the successful visit by Hu to Mongolia in 2003 had promoted bilateral relations to a new stage as the good-neighborly partnership of mutual trust established.

He said Mongolia would like to enhance political, security, and trade cooperation with China, and welcomes China to participate in Mongolia's resources exploration and infrastructure construction.

He expressed the willingness to strengthen cooperation in the SCO. He also expressed his condolences to the casualties and property losses during the recent earthquake in east China's Jiangxi Province.

After the talks, the two heads of state attended a signing ceremony of ten cooperative documents.
