font size

Two US soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb struck their patrol north of Baghdad on Tuesday, the US military said.

The soldiers, assigned to Task Force Baghdad, were killed at about 10:00 a.m. (0700 GMT) when an improvised explosive device hit their vehicle, the military said in a statement.

The name of the soldiers were withheld pending notification of kin, it added.

The death toll has brought to more than 2,100 the number of US military personnel who have died in Iraq since the US-led invasion to the country in March 2003.
