Effective international cooperation is important to education for all, which demands consensus and compromise reached by all parties concerned, said Chinese minister of education.
The minister Zhou Ji made the remarks here Wednesday at the concluding ceremony of the Fifth High Level Group Meeting on Education For All of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which opened here Monday.
During the meeting, 41 delegates including educational officials, representatives of international aid agencies and non-government organizations were invited to have discussions on the current situation and development of the world's education for all, especially in rural areas and the literacy field.
The delegates have also issued in agreement a document and an action plan, advocating pushing forward universal education.
The document fully embodied the consensus reached by all delegates to the meeting, and also highlighted the cooperative spirit needed by education for all, Zhou said.
He stressed that most countries in the world still need to go a long way to achieve the goal of education for all. Countries under different educational situations and with different economic levels should reconcile with each other in some aspects, so that to have win-win cooperation that would benefit all the people.
He hoped UNESCO would continue to play its leading role in mobilizing the international community to help developing countries in this regard.
According to Zhou, the 6th High Level Group Meeting on Education For All will be held in Cairo of Egypt next year.
