A reception was held in Beijing Thursday to mark the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
Wang Yunze, vice president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said the Chinese people, as the Lao people's good and old friends, are very proud of the achievements they have made in their socialist construction.
Since the normalization of Sino-Lao ties in 1989, the two countries have kept frequent high-level mutual visits, and strengthened cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, military affairs and culture, Wang said.
"We are willing to work closely with the Lao people to contribute to long-term stability of Sino-Lao good-neighborly friendly ties." he said.
Vichit Xindavong, Lao ambassador to China, said the Lao people have received precious assistance from the Chinese government and people in their national liberation and socialist construction.
The Lao government pursues the one-China policy and supports China's reform and opening-up as well as its reunification, he said.
