Hong Kong enjoys a brisk labor market nowadays with the total employed people hitting a new high to reach 3.41 million, said Cheung Kin-chung, Permanent Secretary for Economic Development and Labor with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, according to a Xinhua report on Thursday in Hong Kong.
Cheung Kin-chung said recently, among the job vacancies of private institutions received by the labor department in the first 10 months of this year, the month salary ranging between 5,000 to 10,000 HK dollars accounted for 60 percent, a growth of 2 percent year-on-year, reports the overseas edition of People's Daily on December 2.
The "2005 Economic Report for the Third Quarter" released last week shows that employees' income was on a continuous increase. The average employee salary indexes in the first and second quarters of this year increased by 4.4 and 2.7 percent respectively over the same periods last year. The monthly income of the employed in the third quarter was up from 9,500 HK dollars last year to 9,800 this year.
