US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) flights suspected of transporting war-on-terror captives have made at least two stopovers in France in 2002 and this year, the daily Le Figaro said on Friday.
The two flights landed at French airports on March 31, 2002 and July 20,2005 respectively, the newspaper said.
The first flight was that of a Learjet which made a stopover in Brest, a port city in northwestern France, en route from Iceland's Keflavik to Turkey, while the second one landed at Le Bourget airport in Paris from Oslo, the Norwegian capital. The plane was a Gulfstream III.
Allegations the CIA has secret prisons in some European countries and secret flights carrying terror suspects have caused uproar both in the United States and Europe.
On Thursday, Irish Foreign Minister Dermot Ahern said in Washington that US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will make a statement addressing the issue of reportedly secret CIA prisons in her next week's visit to Europe.
