Hewlett-Packard enters China's mobile phone market

The China Hewlett Packard (HP) Co Ltd has formally decided to enter into China's mobile phone market. And its mobiles will be put on sale on China's domestic market next week, which is learned by a reporter with the Beijing Times on Thursday.

A well-informed person told the reporter that the mobile phone for the China market is a smart one based on iPAQ Pocket PC. At the same time, the Software's Windows CE operating system is also integrated into the handheld phone. The price will be likely higher than that of Dopod and Lenovo.

A relevant person with the company said HP is surely planning to put its cell phones on sale on the domestic market next week. But no further detail can be disclosed now. As for the phone license, he said, each product that HP launches will certainly be in line with the relevant laws of the country.

As the old rival of HP in PC, the Lenovo, which is also producing smart phones, said that at the present, the market share for smart phones is very small with comparatively bigger profits. It is no wonder for new comers to enter into this area.

Before this, HP's handheld phones have started to be sold on the Republic of Korea's and European markets, which are all smart phones too.
