Tai Shan to make first public appearance on Dec. 8
Tai Shan, a Chinese giant panda cub, plays with bamboo at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington D.C of the United State, Dec. 1, 2005. Chinese Ambassador to the United States Zhou Wenzhong visited the five-month old cub in the zoo on Dec. 1. The 21-pound Tai Shan will make its first public appearance on December 8.

The file photo was taken by Chinese Taikonaut Fei Junlong aboard Shenzhou-VI, China's second manned spaceflight, October 2005. The brown part of the picture shows the Taklamakan desert of Tarim Basin, NW China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Fei Junlong and Nie Haisheng took more than 300 pictures during China's second manned spaceflight. 20 of them will be shown at the photography exhibition of Shenzhou-VI.
