Chinese President Hu Jintao met Lesotho's Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili on Friday in Beijing. The two sides hailed bilateral ties and vowed to further promote cooperation.

Hu Jintao appreciated that Mosisili adhered to the one-China policy, attached importance to China-Lesotho ties and contributed a lot to the resumption of bilateral diplomatic relations.

"Though we two countries are far away from each other with different domestic situations, we experienced similar histories and are now facing a common task of developing our own economies and improving the people's living standard," Hu said.

The president said that to consolidate and promote long-term stable, equal and mutual-beneficial cooperative relations is in the fundamental interest of the two peoples and is welcomed and supported by the two peoples.

Hu said that he hopes the two sides will further enhance understanding and friendship, and expand communication and cooperation in a bid to promote bilateral ties to a new high.

Mosisili said that China's peaceful development is beneficial for world peace and stability and will offer a valuable experience to all developing countries.

Lesotho regards China as a reliable partner and friend and will further strengthen the existing friendship and sound cooperative ties with China, Mosisili said.

The prime minister said that Lesotho will unswervingly stick to the one-China policy and support China's peaceful reunification.

Mosisili arrived here Wednesday afternoon for a seven-day official visit to China as guest of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
