Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met his Iraqi counterpart Bayan Jabr Solagh on Saturday to discuss bilateral relations and the latest developments in Iraq.
"The main thing is for security to be restored in Iraq so that the Iraqi people will be able to realize all their economic and political ambitions and will uproot terrorism from their land," Sheikh Nawaf was quoted by Kuwait News Agency as saying after conferring with the visiting Iraqi official.
"The Kuwaiti government and people strongly support Iraq by all means at their disposal," he added.
He stressed that Kuwait was always ready to help the Iraqi people achieve their objectives, saying "Kuwait's top political leaders regard Iraq's security and political stability as important to the security and stability of the entire area."
On the border issue, the Iraqi minister called for "close cooperation between the two states in order to achieve border security."
"Iraq was doing its best to prevent cross-border drug smuggling along with the help from its neighbors," he added.
