A Taliban commander said Saturday in an exclusive interview by a private TV station that the kidnapped Indian engineer had not been killed by Taliban.
"The kidnapping and killing of the Indian engineer was not done by Taliban. The work of constructing road does not hurt Islamic Emarat of Afghanistan, so we will not kill these innocent persons.
It's done by the enemy of Afghanistan," Mullah Dost Mohammad Akhund, Taliban commander in charge of southwestern Afghanistan, said with a black turban covering his face in Tolo TV.
This announcement was contradict with the one Taliban had announced earlier.
An Indian engineer, together with his two bodyguards and one driver, was kidnapped on Nov. 19 in the southern Nimroz province. The body of the engineer was found four days later. Taliban spokesperson Qari Yusuf Ahmadi claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and killing.
After the murdering, Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in a press conference that if it had not been done by Taliban, they should tell the truth about who committed the crime, so that the government could find the enemies clearly.
