China marks fifth Legal System Promotion Day

China held a forum on Sunday to mark the fifth Legal System Promotion Day with a theme of "popularizing the spirit of Constitution and building a harmonious society".

Gu Xiulan, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) said at the forum that the legal system promotion and education should serve the goal of building of a harmonious society.

She said popularizing knowledge on the country's legal system and rule of law is one of the effective ways to push ahead with the effort of running the country in accordance with law and enhance the awareness of the whole society on law.

She urged Party committees and governments at all levels to value education on legal knowledge and called for the whole society to learn and implement the Constitution.
