font size

Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiaobao have urged, in recent instructions, governments at all levels to help those living in areas affected by natural disasters tide over winter days by solving concrete problems for them.

Hu, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and Wen asked Party and government officials to keep problems of masses in mind, grant more relief and organize donations in various forms to help the needy tide over winter.

In addition, Hui Liangyu, vice-premier and Member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, has also made similar instructions on the matter.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs held a meeting in Beijing Monday to study the important instructions of top government leaders and made corresponding arrangements.

This year, parts of the country have experienced various natural disasters such as floods, droughts, typhoons and earthquakes. People in disaster-affected areas need assistance of food and clothing, according to the meeting.
