Syria, Russia sign gas contracts
font size

Syria and Russia have signed two gas contracts valued at 370 million US dollars, the official SANA news agency reported on Tuesday.

Both contracts were granted to the Russian company Stroitrangaz, the main contractor of Russia's natural gas monopoly Gazprom, by the Syrian Gas Company, SANA said.

The first contract presupposes the construction of a 324-km section of a pipeline that will run from the Syrian-Jordanian border to ar-Rayan, 160 km north of Damascus, which is part of the third stage of the Arab Gas Line via Syria.

A gas processing plant near the midland city of Palmyra, 245 km northeast of Damascus and where three large gas deposits are located, is to be build under the other contract.

Both projects will be implemented in 22 months, SANA said.
