Zhang Chengyin has been appointed secretary of the municipal committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) of Dalian City, northeast China's Liaoning Province, a local official said Wednesday.

Zhang, born in 1950 in Hebei Province, is concurrently named member of the standing committee of the CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee.

Zhang formerly served as mayor of Kunming City, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, and deputy secretary of the State Organs Work committee of the CPC Central Committee.

According to a decision made by the CPC Central Committee, Zhang took office to replace his predecessor Sun Chunlan.
