Two Chinese students were shot dead in the Canadian capital of Ottawa on Tuesday.

The Chinese embassy in Canada said the two male students were in their twenties and were shot while in a bar in the city's Chinatown.

The embassy took the opportunity to warn Chinese citizens to be vigilant when they travel abroad.

Local police said they would bring those responsible to justice as soon as possible.
