Chinese Vice-Premier meets with Intel chairman

Chinese Vice-Premier Huang Ju met Wednesday in Beijing with Craig Barrett, chairman of Intel Corp, the world's largest chip maker based in the United States.

Huang said the Chinese government attaches great importance to and positively supports the development of the information industry and the appliance of information technologies as information technologies are playing an increasingly important role in economic and social development.

He said China, with the aspirations of reciprocity and common development, encourages the business development in China of big companies including Intel and Sino-foreign cooperation in this regard.

Barrett said Intel will enhance and expand businesses and cooperation in China and make contributions to the development of China's western areas.
