A Russian delegation headed by Presidential Envoy for the Far Eastern Federation District Kamil Iskhakov has departed from Russia to Mecca.
The delegation will take part in a summit of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference.
"The Organisation of the Islamic Conference is going to develop cooperation with Russia, where 20 million Muslims live," Iskhakov said at Kazan airport before the departure. This is a big honour that the president vested me with such high powers, he said.
The summit will take place on December 7 and 8. Representatives from 57 OIC member countries will arrive in Mecca to discuss crucial modern issues, Iskhakov said.
The Russian delegation includes Chief Mufti of Tatarstan Gusman-hazrat.
After the OIC summit, Iskhakov plans to visit Malaysia with a Russian governmental delegation to the ASEAN summit scheduled for December 12-13.
