The government of China's Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) Thursday agreed to provide an assistance of 18 million Nepali rupees (257,000 US dollars) for Nepal, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Nepal.
"The assistance is for schools in northwestern Mustang district 's area with teaching facilities, elder's homes and orphanage with daily necessities, ambulances for eastern Udayapur district and other areas," the MoFA said in a press statement.
A letter of intent was signed and exchanged by Zhou Chunlai, secretary general of TAR government, and Hira Bahadur Thapa, Joint Secretary of MoFA of Nepal, the statement noted.
Chamba Phuntsok, chairman of TAR government, and Ramaesh Nath Pandey, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, were present at the occasion.
Phuntsok, leading a 13-member delegation of TAR, arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday for a week-long visit to Nepal.
Phuntsok had a meeting with Pandey on mutual interest and bilateral relations at MoFA of Nepal.
"As Nepal is close neighbor of China's TAR, my visit is to increase mutual understanding and cooperation so as to benefit our two peoples," Phuntsok told reporters after the meeting.
