A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) met with a delegation of Italian Communist Re-Establishment Party (PRC), led by its General Secretary Fausto Bertinotti, in Beijing Thursday.

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said the CPC attaches great importance to its exchanges with the PRC, in a hope that Bertinotti's visit will deepen mutual understanding and promote party exchanges.

Bertinotti expressed satisfaction with the candid dialogue between the two parties over the years.

Under the new situation, Bertinotti said, the PRC is ready to further strengthen relations with the CPC and carry out in-depth exchanges of views on issues of common concern.
