Two policemen have been killed and two others injured in Taliban ambush in Afghanistan's southern province of Helmand, the provincial governor said Friday.
"Yesterday when several policemen were on the way to arrest someone in Baghran district, a group of Taliban militants ambushed them. In the firefight, two policemen were killed, two policemen and two Taliban were injured," Haji Mohammad Wali told Xinhua.
"The investigation is still going on, but no one has been arrested till now," he added.
Helmand, together with Kandahar, Uruzgan and Zabul, the former stronghold of Taliban regime, has become the hotspot of the militancy.
More than 1,500 people, with a majority of them Taliban militants, have been killed in Taliban-linked militancy this year.
