Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Saturday visited the Parque EXPO in the eastern part of Lisbon.

Wen was shown around while listening to introduction to the Parque EXPO, which was the site hosting the Lisbon World Exposition in 1998 (EXPO98).

The Chinese premier, who flew here Friday for a two-day official visit to Portugal, first visited a hall in the Parque EXPO displaying many pictures under a title "Cast Your Glance toward China," which is meant to reflect a theme demonstrating China's past, present and future.

According to organizers of the show, the theme was developed in accordance with an idea Wen himself raised in his speech at Harvard University on Dec. 10, 2003.

The premier, briefed on the show and related matters, was seen keenly interested in some of the pictures, such as one scene of a Beijing Opera show in a Paris street.

Then the premier visited the model of the Parque EXPO and asked Portuguese officials some questions such as the size and construction of it.

After the visit, Wen will be present at a meeting with some Chinese and Portuguese enterprenuers and a seminar on Sino-Portuguese cooperation in culture and education, notably, diversification of culture and the teaching of Chinese and Portuguese.

Wen was scheduled to leave Portugal for Malaysia on Saturday afternoon.

Portugal is the fourth leg of Wen's five-nation Euro-Aisan tour, which has taken him to France, Slovakia and Czech, and will take him to Malaysia.
