Chen Zhaofeng, former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of Chuzhou Municipal People's Congress, local lawmaking body, in east China's Anhui Province, was prosecuted for taking bribes.

The information was released by Huainan Municipal People's Procuratorate. The case would be dealt with by Huainan Municipal Intermediate People's Court.

Chen allegedly accepted about 2.85 million yuan (351,851 US dollars) from 207 bribers when he worked as deputy head, head and secretary of the county committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Dingyuan County.

He allegedly sought illegal interests for the bribers by abusing his power to manipulate project biddings and provide posts or promotion for bribers, according to the procuratorate.

Chen's personal assets included 9.04 million yuan (1.12 million US dollars), about 10,000 US dollars and 16,000 HK dollars. He could not account for the legal sources of the 5.45 million yuan (672,839 US dollars), according to the procuratorate.
