President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's fourth nominee for oil minister on Sunday, ending months-long chaos concerning the key post.

The Majlis (Parliament) okayed Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh as oil minister with 172 "Yes" votes in the 290-member legislature.

Vaziri-Hamaneh, former deputy oil minister, has been the acting oil minister in the caretaker cabinet.

He is the fourth nominee for the top oil post proposed by President Ahmadinejad since August.

The parliament rejected the first and third nominees put forward by Ahmadinejad while the second nominee withdrew before a vote in the legislature, leading to months-long vacancy of the key oil post.

Iran is the world's fourth largest crude oil producer and oil exports account for some 80 percent of the country's total export revenues.
