Ministers of the World Trade Organization (WTO) gathered on Tuesday in Hong Kong for the long-awaited Sixth Ministerial Conference (MC6).
The following are some facts and figures about the six-day meeting:
5,800 -- A total of 5,800 delegates, including some 300 ministers, from the 149 WTO members attended the Hong Kong meeting.
250 million -- The government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) appropriated 250 million Hong Kong dollars to fund the preparations of the ministerial meeting.
2,100 -- About 2,100 representatives from non-governmental organization (NGO) across the world are present at the Dec. 13-18 meeting.
3,207 -- According to the MC6 Chairman John Tsang, some 3,207 journalists were registered to cover the meeting.
700 -- Over 700 civil servants of the HKSAR served temporarily as volunteers for the meeting.
9,000 -- Security around the Convention and Exhibition Center, venue of the MC6, was tightened as 9,000 police officers were deployed to guard the meeting.
