SW China's hydropower tycoon charged with bribery

Wang Dejun, former board chairman of southwest China's Dongneng Group, who ranked 167th on the 2004 Forbes China Rich list with a personal wealth of 98 million US dollars, has been charged with bribery, according to local court sources.

Wang, 39, who was detained in December 2004, was indicted on charges of offering more than 20 million yuan (2.46 million US dollars) in bribes when he was the hydropower group's CEO and Party secretary.

A native of southwestern Sichuan province's Lechan city, Wang has obtained the title of Senior Economic Administrator and was taking EMBA courses at prestigious Qinghua University in Beijing before he was arrested.
