Students from 40 Beijing universities and colleges on Wednesday witnessed the destruction of more than 20,000 pirated discs they had gathered in a month-long campaign to support authentic products.
The campaign for Intellectual Property Right (IPR) protection started in the 40 universities and colleges on Nov. 7, during which a student could obtain one disc with copyright from campaign organizers by handing in two pirated discs plus 6 yuan (74 US cents).
The campaign was sponsored by Beijing Students Federation, which prepared 10,000 genuine discs for the students.
More than 300,000 people were involved in the campaign against piracy, according to the sponsor.
