The retail sales in Singapore grew 10.2 percent in October from a year ago, according to the figures released by the Singapore Department of Statistics (SDS) Thursday.
The SDS said that all retail sectors reported higher sales in October in comparison with the same period last year with sales of food and beverages up 18.8 percent, the highest figure among all sectors.
Earnings of such sectors as furniture and household equipment, petrol service stations, department stores, provision and sundry shops, telecommunications apparatus and computers as well as wearing apparel and footwear also saw double-digit growths in October.
Sales of recreational goods reversed the marginal decline of 0.5 percent in September to grow 12 percent in the tenth month of this year.
The total retail sales value reported an estimated 2.5 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.5 billion US dollars) in October.
The catering trade index in October rose by 5 percent over the same period last year, and the total value was estimated at 335 million Singapore dollars (about 200 million US dollars).
