Exxon Mobil: energy demand to rise 60 percent in 25 years
font size

The world's largest oil giant Exxon Mobil published its energy outlook for the next 25 years on Dec. 13, asserting the world's energy demand will rise by 60 percent over the current level in 2030.

Exxon Mobil predicts that the world will need nearly 335 million barrels of oil equivalent (MBDOE) per day in 2030, after an increase of 1.6 percent increase on average a year from 205 MBDOE per day now.

According to Exxon Mobil, the demand growth is mainly driven by non-OECD economies, the Asian Pacific region in particular where energy demand will jump by 3.2 percent annually.

Exxon Mobil asserted that the demand for coal and natural gas would increase by 1.8 percent, followed by a 1.4 percent increase for oil.
