Japanese government urged to take correct approach toward history
font size

Chinese State Councilor Zhou Yongkang said Thursday in Beijing that the Japanese government should take a correct approach toward history and take concrete actions to win trust from the Asian people and the international community as well.

In his talks with Muratta Yoshitata, a member of Japan's House of Representatives from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Zhou said that maintaining good Sino-Japanese ties is closely related to the fundamental interest of the people of both countries, and the prosperity and stability of Asia as well as the rest of the world since China and Japan are close neighbors and fairly important countries in the region.

China is willing to facilitate friendly and cooperative relations aiming at peace and development together with Japan so as to make contributions to the peace and development of Asia and the rest of the world on the principled basis of the three political documents signed by the two countries and the guidelines of "taking history as a mirror and orienting toward the future".

Zhou and his guests gave a positive affirmation of the bilateral cooperation in law-enforcement sector when Yoshitata was chairman of Japan's National Public Safety Commission.

Both parties voiced the hope to continue to advance such cooperation in the future.
