China demands US side deal with expired medical equipment, FM spokesman
font size

China has contacted the relevant U.S. organizations and demanded they should deal with the expired charitable medical equipment properly, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said Thursday in Beijing.

"Charity is the noble cause, and a pure word, " Qin said, adding "we don't hope these dirty equipments would bring disgrace to this word," Qin told a regular press conference.

He noted that the Chinese customs and inspection and quarantine department had found and sorted out the unqualified medical equipment, and the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine had reported to the press.

Recently, China has spotted the expired medical equipment, tubing, dirty bedding and used surgical clothes in four containers donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, the State of Utah, the spokesman said. And the questionable donation will be returned.
